Jiaogulan (Gynostemma Pentaphyllum) provides nutritional support for horses suffering from hoof pathology, slow hoof growth, weak wall integrity and impaired blood circulation within the hoof.
Jiao Gu Lan has traditionally been used as an adaptogenic herb in Chinese Medicine, helping to strengthen the body and improve blood flow.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Mix into a paste for the horse/pony to lap up, or suspend in water and give by syringe, or mix into a small amount of feed.
Discontinue aspirin or herbs with aspirin-like effects (e.g. White Willow, Meadowsweet) two weeks before startingJiaogulan.
For Adaptogenic Functions:
500kg Horse – 3g (1 tspn/day)
250kg Pony – 1.5g (½ tspn/day)
For Laminitic cases/hoof pathology:
500kg Horse - 1.5g (½ tspn / TWICE daily)
Increase to 2-6g twice daily, do not exceed 15g/dose
250kg Pony – 1g (1/3 tspn TWICE daily)
Increase to 2-4g twice daily, do not exceed 10g/dose
Dosing for Laminitic cases/hoof pathology:
Look for:
If you do not see the gums becoming pinker, the dose is not correct. Increase by ¼ teaspoon every 3 days until you notice the gums becoming noticeably pinker. Do not exceed 15g / dose.
NOTE: Do not administer to dehydrated horses or horses with a heart condition.These herbs maycontain prohibited substances.

One of my arabians developed founder/laminitis with quite severe rotation, in September 2021. Spiriit was yarded, booted, x-rayed, trimmed for 5mths & on a strict diet suggested by the Laminitis Support Group. Jiaogulan was mentioned by another member of the group, to help with blood flow in the hooves. Purchased this product from Missy's Bucket & Spirit has not looked back since (fingers crossed!). I am still feeding this supplement to her & also to my two other horses, & keeping them all on the Emergency diet. Our pasture is insane due to all the wet weather/mud & nowhere is there a grass free area, so they are confined to a small paddock. I am hopeful that Jiaogulan has played a big part in recovery & highly recommend this product to others whose horses are in a similar situation.

I purchased this product for my 28yo who had a serious Laminitis attack which after blood tests was found to be mechanical rather than diet or age related. I researched Jiao Gu Lan and found that it stimulates blood flow to the hoof and increases Nitric Oxide which increases delivery of nutrients and supporting the joints and connective tissue. He has made a full recovery and is on a maintenance dose. I have started another High/Low heel TB and noticing improvements in comfort levels. Would highly recommend as a natural alternative.

AustraliaI’ve been incorporating Jiao Gu Lan in my horse’s diet since her first (and hopefully last) bout of laminitis late last year. It smells delicious, horses love it and it lasts and lasts (you only need a teaspoon or two for an effective dose). Also I can rely on Missy’s Bucket to provide a regular supply - its quickly re-stocked if sold out. I can’t pronounce it but I love this product. PS. Horse has recovered well and is coming back into work.
Australia4th bout of laminitis over the years and I was pretty worried about all that bute for my 27 yo gelding. I am now using Jiao Gu Lan in the aftermath and he has returned to the paddock and very average dry grass, so far so good. Worth a try when things are desperate.

AustraliaI've been using Jiao Gu Lan for a few weeks now. Because my mare was in Laminitis crisis at the time, her meds were changed as well. So it will be a little longer until I will know if the herb is helping. But I believe it is. She is so much better now.
AustraliaI initially started feeding Jiao Gu Lan to my QH mare when she got laminitis. I fed it under recommendation from The Equine Cushing & Insulin Resistance group. Jiao Gu Lan promotes hoof growth and encourages the production of a small molecule called nitric oxide, which is an important messenger/signal molecule whose functions among other things is to maintain good circulation through the tissues, relax the blood vessels to allow flow. This really helped with the healing process. My mare really benefitted from it and she also enjoyed eating it from my hand when mixed with a little water.
